
Patricia Fry Steward is a member of Steward Ingram & Cooper PLLC and brings over 30 years of experience in tax planning, business planning and succession planning for businesses and their owners, as well as strategic planning for entity selection and operations analysis in conjunction with the overall tax and business planning considerations. She also provides independent comprehensive financial planning as an Investment Adviser Representative of Paraklete Financial, Inc.™ Her planning encompasses estate and trust planning as well as retirement and cash flow planning in conjunction with asset protection considerations and family planning needs.
Ms. Steward has had a particular focus in the medical practice niche, providing assistance to physicians in developing compensation plans, admitting new physicians and related issues; assistance with operations analysis; and guidance regarding retirement plans. All of this is done with a focus on optimizing tax planning and personal financial planning between the entity, the physician and his or her family, with emphasis on asset protection.
Ms. Steward earned a B.S. degree in Math Education with honors from North Carolina State University (NCSU). After teaching math for four years, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NCSU for accounting, auditing, tax and business law curriculum to obtain her CPA certification. In addition, in 1999 she attained and currently holds the professional designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS).
Ms. Steward was a partner in a Raleigh, North Carolina public accounting firm that merged with a national CPA firm in 1987. She established a new CPA firm simultaneously with the merger and has continued with that same firm to develop a highly respected public accounting firm in Raleigh: Steward Ingram & Cooper PLLC.
She is a member of Triangle Medical Managers Group, former president of Triangle Chapter of NCACPA, former board member of NCACPA and former board member of Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (TCREW).
Ms. Steward previously served on the local boards of SouthTrust Bank, Capital Bank and, most recently, Regions Bank.
Ms. Steward previously served United Way of Triangle in several different capacities, including as a member of a special business task force that called on significant business contributors in Raleigh and the Triangle.
Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ms. Steward and her husband have resided in Raleigh since her graduation from NCSU.

David is the managing member of Steward Ingram & Cooper PLLC. He obtained his license as a certified public accountant in North Carolina in 1986. David’s client service responsibilities include overseeing the firm’s audit and accounting practice as well as its business valuation services.
David grew up on a family owned farm in western North Carolina. After graduating from North Carolina State University, David worked as a store manager for a national retail store for three years. Upon successful completion of the Uniform Certified Public Accounting examination, David was employed by a large locally owned public accounting firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1993, David was admitted as a shareholder to a predecessor firm, serving as audit practice manager/owner.
David received the designation as Certified Valuation Analyst in 2000. The firm’s business valuation services are primarily in the areas of client education and assistance with valuations to be used in buy-sell agreements and other internally generated transactions.
Steward Ingram & Cooper PLLC was formed in June 2000 and David has served as the member responsible for auditing and accounting and business valuation since the inception of the firm.
David has been married to Gaye Austin Ingram since 1980 and they have two daughters. Their oldest daughter is a graduate of Meredith College and is currently a PHD student in Computer Science at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Their younger daughter is a human biology major at North Carolina State University and plans to be a Physician’s Assistant.
David has worked as a volunteer, treasurer and as a member of the board of directors for various non-profit organizations during his professional career. Currently, David serves on the board of directors and as treasurer for the Carolina Youth Ballet.

Jeffrey C. Cooper, CPA joined the firm in 1998 and became a member in 2002. Jeff is responsible for overseeing the firm’s tax compliance operations.
Jeff provides services to small to medium sized corporations, partnerships and LLCs in the areas of tax consulting, research and compliance. He serves clients with multiple entities structures including consolidations and related-party companies; multi-state issues; retirement and succession plan considerations.
Jeff also serves business owners and high net-worth individuals. His clients include individuals with flow-through entities and real estate activities. Understanding a client’s business and individual circumstances provides the opportunity to maximize tax benefits to a business and its owners.
Prior to moving to the Raleigh area in 1998 and joining Steward Ingram & Cooper PLLC, Jeff spent 12 years with a large regional firm in Michigan. He graduated with a B.S. degree, including an emphasis in accounting, from Alma College, Alma, Michigan in 1983.
